Basics of Rhinoceros 5
Rhinoceros is a 3d designing tool facilitating fast and accurate design of both 2d and 3d images. It is a command based language. The basic commands in Rhino 3d are as follows
1. Shape Commands: Line,Circle,Ellipse etc.
2.Trim : Used to delete a segment from the image
3. Join: For joining seperate images to form a single image
4. Polygon: To draw a polygon by specifying the number of edges
5. Osnap: To identify correct position such as center, end, top etc
6. Ortho: To maintain 90 degree straight lines while drawing
7.Array Polar: Used to multiply the image
8. Bounting box: Whenever the center of a surface is unknown,a bounting box helps in identifying the center.
9.Fillet: Used to make corners or edges look more shiny
10. Boolean Union: Used to join 3d objects
11. Boolean Difference: Used to remove a particular portion from a 3d image
12. Material : Provides options for giving colour and appearance to the 3d objects
13. Extrude: Used to extend the 2d surface info 3d
14. Sweep: Used to make 3d outline from 2d images
The fig shown above is designed in rhinoceros using the above commands.
First of all a circle is drawn. Then array pointer is used to multiply it. After that we removed the unwanted portions to obtain a grooved surface. Then a bounting box is made and the center of the image is identified. Then identified the height and using Fillet made the edges and rail. After that finished with outer rectangle. Then using sweep made the 3d outline. After that multiplied it with array polar. Then made a circle in the middle and using extrude a pole is fixed. Then removed it using Boolean difference and we got the final output.
